Welcome to Bon Voyage Jackie!

Hi there, I’m Jackie!
I started traveling my freshman year of college when I was granted a full scholarship to study in China for a summer. I came back and immediately signed up to study for a semester in Costa Rica, where I fell absolutely in love with Central America!
I’ve since continued traveling solo (and sometimes with friends and family too) every opportunity I find.
Travel doesn’t have to be expensive.
A former teacher, and frequent student (currently I’m in grad school working on my MBA), I learned how to make the most of my budget to be able to travel more often and start having those bucket-list experiences I always dreamed of.
Now that I work remotely, I’ve been able to start taking longer trips and integrate more slow travel by taking workcations.
I started this blog to share that journey with you. I want to empower you to make the most of your time and your budget so that you can see the world and have those bucket-list experiences. I want to share my travel guides and experiences to help inspire you to get out there, travel more, and live the life of your dreams!

They’re known for crater lakes, waterfalls, hot springs, black sand beaches, dramatic…

El Paredon Guatemala Travel Guide: Where to Stay, Surf & Remote Work Tips
After two trips to El Paredon, Guatemala, I’m already planning a third. The first time I visited in 2022, it felt like a hidden surf town. A few hostels, a couple beachside restaurants, and not much else besides surf and sunsets. Fast forward to December 2025, and while it’s still far from overdeveloped, you can…

Casa en el Agua Review: Everything You Need To Know About Colombia’s Floating Hostel
Is Casa en el Agua worth it? You’ve probably seen the viral videos of a hostel sitting in the middle of the ocean, with people jumping off the deck into crystal clear turquoise water and hammocks swaying over the sea. And thought… wait, is it actually like that? Or is this one of those places…
